Studio Art
The school’s art curriculum provides students with the opportunity to work in a variety of mediums including clay, charcoal and paint. In addition, we study the work of artists such as Michelangelo, van Gogh and Picasso.
As part of their classroom experience, the preschooler classrooms include a “gallery” of arts and crafts projects made by the students. And in addition to their daily arts and crafts, a special day is set aside each month for unique craft projects.
Lower school students visit the art lab every week. They learn everything from basic concepts like primary colors, to learning about different artists and types of art.
Middle school students have art class twice per week. Their class time allows for each individual to grow and excel in his or her artistic talents and interests.
The curriculum is the greatest strength of this school. It is a very strong program that allows the students to excel beyond average level of achievement for their grade. The field trips are also excellent. Shreiner provides such varied field trips from museums and aquariums to fun-filled activities such as laser tag and amusement parks. Another great strength of Shreiner is its outstanding responsiveness to parents’ concerns. This is a big reason why my son has been a student at Shreiner since he was 3 years old!
