Play academic challenge games in the car: Count to 100 (or count as far as you can), name off the days of the week, name the months of the year, think of as many things that start with D, sing the alphabet song (A "ah" apple, B "buh" bear,...), etc. 

Write stories together about Nat, Jan Sam, Dad Rags and Dan!
