Admissions Process

We are thrilled that you are considering Shreiner Academy for your child’s education. We accept new students at any time of the year, subject to availability. Our goal is always to make the admissions process as smooth as possible for our parents and students, thereby ensuring a seamless transition into the new school environment.

Below you will find a step-by-step guide to our admissions process. Please contact us at any time if you have questions, by calling (770) 953-1340. We look forward to welcoming you and your child into the Shreiner family!

Step 1: Tour the Campus

Experience the Shreiner difference. See our beautiful campus equipped with eight playgrounds, two basketball courts, and two swimming pools. Observe the students at work in the classrooms and at play in the school park. Witness firsthand how the teachers and staff interact with students with kindness and genuine care, as they are all part of the Shreiner family.

Step 2: Testing

To ensure that your child is a good fit academically with Shreiner, we perform pre-admission testing*. This testing helps evaluate and place your child appropriately upon enrollment.

Each student is tested individually. The testing takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Shreiner uses standardized tests that measure your child in comparison to other children of the same age. We will notify you with the results. Due to the volume of pre-admission testing, Shreiner does not analyze test results with parents.

Preschool (3K-4K)
Testing is around basic concepts. The child is presented with pictures and then asked questions such as:
  • Which boat is bigger?
  • Which pencil is longer?
  • Which farmer has more chickens?
Shreiner Academy uses the Bracken Basic Concept Scale for the testing, followed by a personal interview and observation session.

Lower and Middle School
Testing focuses on traditional academic subjects including mathematics, reading comprehension, and spelling.

Shreiner Academy uses the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test for evaluation, followed by a personal interview.

*The non-refundable testing fee is $75.

Step 3: Transcripts

For transfer students, transcripts from the previous school(s) are requested.

Step 4: Shadow Day

Prospective students are invited to spend a day attending classes at Shreiner Academy. This time provides your student with the opportunity to meet his or her new teacher(s) and future classmates, begin familiarizing him or herself with the campus, and start to feel a part of the Shreiner family.

Step 5: Committee Review

A committee review is conducted to ensure that Shreiner Academy is the best match to meet your child’s needs. The acceptance committee will notify you by mail with the results of the review within seven to ten days.

My child has learned so much with great teachers and curriculum. School is open around Holidays for those of us that have to work (Thanks!). Nice kids, nice cultural balance.
