Preschool
2K-3K-4K
At the 2K - 4K level (for 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds) we offer a challenging curriculum in an exciting and unique manner that encourages children to have fun while they happen to be learning. We offer both full-time and part-time preschool programs.Bright, spacious, well-equipped, and well-designed classrooms, complete with a gallery of arts and crafts projects made by the students, make every day an adventure.
Safety is a priority at Shreiner. The school is equipped with keyless door locks, and ID checks are made of all people that are not recognized. Additionally, background checks are made on all members of our faculty and staff.
Curriculum
The academic program at the 2K, 3K, and 4K level includes:
- Letter recognition
- Phonics
- Math
- Social studies
- Science
- Art
- Music
- Spanish
- Physical Education
- The 4K program also includes basic concepts of reading as well as addition and subtraction skills.
Progress reports are issued three times each year for 3- and 4-year-olds. In addition, the academic work is placed in the child’s mailbox on a daily basis.
Exploration
Once a month, 2-, 3-, and 4-year-old students venture to the northern end of campus for story time in the library, a lesson in the science lab, and a project in the home economics lab (e.g. cookie decorating).
Winter and spring shows in the school’s performing arts center offer the children a chance to be up on stage. This is a lot of fun for all of us (parents included!) and is a great way to build self-esteem and self-confidence.
Shreiner has two swimming pools, one of which is specifically designed for 3- to 5-year-olds with a depth of two to four feet. The school employs Red Cross-certified lifeguards.
Special Days and Events
Special events include pony rides, astro jump, visits from the petting zoo, guest performers, and theatrical performances. Shreiner students celebrate all the traditional holidays. In addition to their daily arts and crafts, a special day is set aside each month for unique craft projects.
The 4-year-old classes go on a variety of field trips throughout the year. Past destinations have included the Center for Puppetry Arts, Discovery Zone, Gymnastics Center, and Zoo Atlanta. Parents are always welcome to join their children on field trips.
Delicious, hot, healthy meals, as well as snacks, are prepared in the school’s two kitchens. The 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds have their own menus designed by a nutritionist. Breakfast, lunch, and snack menus are posted in each building.
A great advantage for students enrolled in Shreiner's Preschool program - they are given first priority for acceptance into our Lower School program at age 5.
