Letter from the Head of School

Spring 2010

Dear Shreiner Academy Family:

Happy spring!! As you can see, campus is blooming and busy. It was wonderful to see so many of you for our re-enrollment kick-off party on March 27, and for our potluck dinner and celebration of our science fair on March 31! We had tremendous turn-outs for both evenings, welcomed some new families that will be joining us next year, and were blessed with beautiful weather!

Speaking of re-enrollment, if you haven’t already done so, please be sure to send in your re-enrollment forms so that we may reserve a spot for your child for next year. As mentioned, we are pleased to say we are adding new members to our Shreiner community across the grades, so there will be some new faces on campus next year. We are growing and improving, and your continued support is appreciated. Again, to ensure your child’s spot for next year, please be sure to send your forms in right away. We truly value you and your family, and if you need information or assistance in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact us; we are happy to explore options with you.

In addition to next year's planning, summer camp enrollment is in full swing! We have our brochure and registration forms online for your convenience, and all families should have received packets in their child’s Shreiner mailbox. This year, we have a variety of options. Day camp has been restructured to include enhanced, organized, fun activities everyday, based on a weekly theme. A field trip supportive of the theme is offered every week and is included in the fee. Our campers will be doing everything this summer from visiting Stone Mountain to helping cheer the Braves to victory.  Also, swim lessons will continue to be part of daily camp, and we have certified and licensed swim instructors as part of our staff.

The new short-term program offerings are options for summer academic enrichment as well as for sports and the arts. There are many options for your child to have a fun and enriching summer experience, and we hope you will join us when you are available this summer!

As we head towards the end of this year, there are several important events upcoming and we wanted to be sure you were aware of them. (You will have received emails about the below, as well as postings on our calendar and homepage.)

Important Dates:

Stanford 10 Testing: April 19-23

Be sure your child is on time to school. For the convenience of our families, we will have a full, nutritious breakfast available for purchase for $2.00 every morning from 7:00-8:30am during test week. Please note: no one will be admitted to testing after 9:00am. This will be strictly enforced, so it is vital, as always, that all students arrive to school on time.

Shreiner Academy’s greatest strength is the ability for students to learn in a smaller classroom environment. The teachers are able to give individual attention to the students and the students are able to have a voice … they can open up and are not left silent. The teachers can also monitor student progress better within the classroom.
