Sarah is a life-long learner, beginning as a young child and continuing to this day. Since 1982, she has served as a teacher and administrator in both the public and private sectors of education. (She has been both an at-home mother and a working mother during this period of time, as well.) In addition, she has been involved with education policy as a private citizen; she was appointed to a two-year term on the Education Sub-Committee for the State of Ohio while a member of The Junior League of Cincinnati. She has twice been a Gabbard Fellow at The University of Cincinnati, College of Education – once for her studies with educational change and technology for her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration (1997), and once for her doctoral work in education (2003). Among many areas of interest, she is a student of childhood education and development (PK-grade 12), technology, advanced social-psychology, and change theory.

From 1997-2009, she served The Cincinnati Country Day School in a variety of capacities—as  Dean of Student Life, Grade-Level Dean of Students (for the high school), All-School Director of Summer Programs and Camps (early childhood through age 18), and Upper School Teacher of English. She is the mother of two wonderful children, now both in college, and as a parent, she has stayed particularly interested in the myriad social and educational issues facing children today. Sarah joined Shreiner Academy as Head of School in 2009, and sees this opportunity as a perfect culmination of her desire to serve as an educational leader for a unique, family-oriented community of learners. Since coming to Shreiner as a member of American Education Group, Sarah has had the opportunity to continue developing academic programs, as well as spearhead new initiatives for excellence in the whole child approach to education.

Shreiner Academy’s greatest strength is the ability for students to learn in a smaller classroom environment. The teachers are able to give individual attention to the students and the students are able to have a voice … they can open up and are not left silent. The teachers can also monitor student progress better within the classroom.
