Two, Three, and Four Year Old Kindergarten Programs
A Great Education ... A Wonderful Childhood!
Loving, Caring Environment We have two goals at Shreiner Academy: a great education and a wonderful childhood. At the preschool level the focus is to offer a challenging curriculum in an exciting and original manner so that the children have fun while learning.
Safety First We have keyless door locks and ID checks are made of all people that are not recognized. Background information checks are made on all members of our faculty and staff.
Small Classes Our small student to
teacher ratio allows for more individual attention. The two year old class size
is 6 to 10 students. The three and four year old class ranges from 10 to 14
students.
Longevity of Teachers Our preschool teachers have been with the school for an average of five years!
Spacious, Airy Classrooms Bright, well equipped classrooms are the hallmark of the school. On any day they serve as a gallery exhibiting the art and craft projects of the students.
Individual Attention Each child three years and older is individually tested to determine class placement. Those accepted into the program receive one-on-one computer training and tutoring. Because of the small class size, the teacher can devote quality time to each child.
Academic Program The academic program at the preschool level includes letter recognition, phonics, math, social studies, and science. The curriculum has been developed by an Educational Specialist especially for Shreiner Academy.
Progress Reports * Progress reports are issued three times each year. In addition, the academic work is placed in the child's mailbox on a daily basis.
Adventure Clubs * Adventure clubs are a weekly enrichment program in which the students learn music, art, cooking, dance, etc. This program continually changes to add variety to the curriculum.
Craft Day In addition to their daily arts and crafts, a special day is set aside each month for unique craft projects.
Performing Arts * Winter and Spring shows in the school's performing arts center demonstrate how much fun the children can have performing for their parents. This is a great way to build self esteem and self confidence.
Special Event Days Special events include pony rides, astro jump, visits from the petting zoo, guest performers, and theatrical performances. In addition, we celebrate the traditional children's holidays.
Monthly calendars are produced to preview the special events, shows, craft days, and field trips.
Trips to Library, Science, and Home Economics Labs * Once a month, students venture to the northern end of the campus for story time in the library, a lesson in the science lab, and a project in the home economics lab (e.g. cookie decorating).
Field Trips ** The four year old classes go on a variety of field trips throughout the year (e.g. Center for Puppetry Arts, Discovery Zone, Gymnastics Center, and Zoo Atlanta). Parents are always welcome to join us.
Preschool Swimming Pool * Shreiner Academy has two swimming pools and one of them has been specifically designed for three to five year olds (depth: 2 to 4 feet). The school employs Red Cross Certified Lifeguards.
Meals and Snacks Delicious hot meals are prepared in the school's three kitchens. The preschoolers have their own menus designed by a nutritionist. Breakfast, lunch, and snack menus are posted in each building.
State Accredited Preschool Program State Accreditation for a school at the preschool level is extremely rare. Shreiner Academy has met the standards established by the Georgia Accrediting Commission (University of Georgia) and the school has been awarded the highest level of accreditation.
Building Blocks for the Future Competition for Shreiner Academy's grade school placement is intense. One of the key advantages for students enrolled in the Academy's preschool program is that they are the first to be accepted into our elementary program.
