The school's Field Trip Program is designed as a "Classroom on Wheels." Our past excursions have included: Calloway Gardens, The Tennessee Aquarium, Fernbank Planetarium, Sci Trek, Stone Mountain, the Folk Life Festival, and the City of Savannah.
The computer Lab is one of the most popular areas of the school. It features a high-speed DSL internet connection which the students are able to access for the use of project research and expanded studies. The lab's software programs permit the children to review basic skills in a fun format.
Our past visitors have included meteorologists, newscasters, consulates from foreign embassies, police dogs, hook and ladder fire trucks, a pitcher from the Atlanta Braves, and the 11-Alive helicopter.
The school places great emphasis in the performing arts program as a method of teaching basic skills and developing a sense of self-confidence. It is amazing to watch the children develop from year to year in learning to sing, project, and finally, add characterization to the roles they play.
The school's Special Events Calendar includes: holiday parties, picnics, dances, costume parties, hay rides, cookouts, field days, pony rides, treasure hunts, and campouts.
Shreiner Academy offers a tutorial program so that students are helped to realize their full potential. Students are instructed on a one-to-one or small group basis. This program assists students who need a bit more time in mastering a skill and provides gifted students new projects and challenges.
Shreiner Academy's physical education program includes: soccer, kickball, and basketball. On occasion swimming, bowling, and ice skating are incorporated into the curriculum. In addition, there are annual Olympics and Field Day programs in which students can win medals and ribbons. The school also participates in the Presidential Fitness Program. The most recent addition to the P.E. program is an outdoor fitness center which is designed to both entertain and challenge the students.
The school's basketball teams are a special point of pride. Both faculty and parents coach the teams. Shreiner Academy also has a cheerleading squad to cheer our teams to victory.
